Ray Flowers - Managing Director

After 27 years in the Motor Industry, starting as a Parts Department Trainee and ending up as Managing Director of a substantial prestige Motor Dealership, a chance meeting on the pontoons of Brighton Marina set me on a course for a second career in the leisure boating industry.

My main hobby had always been boating so a chance to go into Business with a respected Broker in Brighton was to my mind too good an opportunity to miss.

Thus in 2012 my involvement with Blackrock began. Shortly afterwards we joined the Network Yacht Brokers co-operative and then opened a second branch in Chichester Harbour, gaining the Jeanneau Power Boat franchise to add to the Jeanneau Yachts and adding BRIG Ribs to round off the customer offering.

Customer Service has always been my primary driver, having won awards from BMW and now Jeanneau it drives my focus daily.

My own boating experience started from a young age as my father was a traditional wooden boat builder by trade. The first yacht I owned was a Jaguar 25 and the last a Contest 48CS. More latterly I have gone to the dark side and a Fairline Squadron 58.

To be able to work every day immersed in your hobby is a wonderful experience, add to that working with your Son, it becomes sublime…..

Simon Flowers - Director

I developed a love for boating at a young age, spending much of my early years sailing around the Solent and along the South Coast. More recently, with the arrival of a young family, my time on the water has shifted more to powerboating across the Solent.

Having spent a number of years working operationally in the leisure industry and more recently as a Marketing Manager an opportunity arose in 2012 for me to join my father at Blackrock Yachting to help grow the business and expand into Chichester Harbour. Initially based in Northney Marina we quickly increased in size and re-located into one of the UK largest marinas, Premier Marinas Chichester where we continue to grow. To be fortunate enough to combine my passion and a career on top of working alongside my father I’ve never looked back.

In my spare time, on top of boating I enjoy time with family and friends exploring new places, staying active and always seeking my next challenge.

Guy Greenwood - Broker

Guy's passion for boating began at a young age, sparked by canal boat holidays with his grandparents and summer camps spent dinghy sailing. These early experiences laid the foundation for a lifelong enthusiasm for the water. After much deliberation, his parents eventually decided to purchase their own powerboat and a few years and many solent cruising weekends later, they upgraded to a second boat; one that Guy proudly remembers helping to find!... It was during this time that he realised boating could be a hobby as well as a promising career.

Pursuing this goal, Guy earned a degree in Maritime Business from Southampton Solent University. He then gained valuable experience working as an administrative and sales assistant with Sunseeker London before joining Blackrock Yachting as a Broker in August 2021. With a deep-rooted passion for both power and sailboats, along with hands-on knowledge of both new and pre-owned vessels, Guy is well-equipped to assist clients in finding, acquiring or selling the perfect boat.

Alan Turnbull - Broker

Alan has been around boats most of his life. He grew up next to the Crinan Canal in Scotland where his grandfather was a lock keeper, and at a young age used to go through the canal as crew for many boats.

Over the years he has owned a variety of boats from a 16’ Plancraft ski boat, Newbridge Sea Rider 36, Hallberg Rassy Rasmus 35 and a Princess 33, so far!

Past marine experience includes being a Duty Manager for Premier Marinas in Brighton for almost 5 years.

He had worked for Blackrock Yachting on a few occasions supporting local boat shows and covering for leave before joining Simon and the team at Chichester full time in January 2022.

Karen Read - Administrator

Karen is our full time Administrator.
She has a wide ranging role supporting the Sales Team and our customers throughout the buying and selling process.

Karen has a wide range of experience within the Marine, Automotive and Motorcycle industries with a history of progression, having spent 19 years working for Suzuki GB PLC, 4 years working for GE’s (General Electric) Asset Finance subsidiary within their Credit and Customer Service Departments and then latterly working with a charity managing the day to day running and finances of fully accessible powerboats giving the opportunity to many disabled & disadvantaged people of all ages to get afloat.

In her spare time Karen enjoys getting away on the boat which she owns with her husband of over 30 years, teddy bear making, cake decorating and shopping as well as the odd glass of wine!
